This past weekend, Tabletop Creator had the incredible opportunity to host the very first Tabletop Creators Weekend at the vibrant RePlay space in Madrid. The event brought together nearly 100 passionate board game enthusiasts, creators, and industry pros for two exciting days of creativity, competition, and collaboration.
The theme of this inaugural event? “Travel”. We challenged participants to design board games where the concept of traveling wasn’t just a feature—it was the heart of the gameplay. Whether through narrative, mechanics, or objectives, the participants truly delivered, crafting unique and imaginative games that blew us away.
Winners of Tabletop Creator’s 1st board game design event
After a weekend packed with creative energy, our panel of judges selected the top three standout projects:
🏆 First Place: Iverian Travel
In this brilliantly strategic game, players step into the shoes of air traffic controllers tasked with crafting optimal flight paths to get planes to their destinations swiftly and efficiently. The innovative mechanics explore the theme of travel in a fresh and engaging way, keeping players on their toes. And here’s the kicker: players win by filling up their passport with stamps from completed journeys!
💫 Second Place: Berney Space Shipping
This cosmic adventure takes travel to the stars, as players become futuristic space couriers competing to deliver packages before an AI-piloted ship beats them to it. With its captivating design, resource management elements, and a dash of intergalactic competition, Berney Space Shipping redefines the concept of travel through the lens of space exploration.
⏳ Third Place: Emisarios del Tiempo (Special Award for Best Adaptation of the Theme)
What’s better than traveling through space? Traveling through time, of course! In this thrilling game, players traverse a grid of locations spanning time and space, completing missions as they go. Blending history, strategy, and exploration, Emisarios del Tiempo offers an experience that’s as unique as it is imaginative.

A Community of board game designers
We couldn’t have asked for a better crowd to kick off the first edition of Tabletop Creators Weekend. Creators, designers, and players from all walks of life came together to share ideas, showcase their talent, and explore the endless possibilities of board game design.
The event featured inspiring talks from some of the best in the business, including WAH! Studio, La Mesa de Dam, Leyendas y Videojuegos, and KarmaDoc, among others. Plus, participants got hands-on access to the Tabletop Creator platform—our powerful tool for designing, customizing, and exporting professional-quality board games in no time.
